FAQs
Will my child cry?
They might at first. Just as they cry with anything new before they have an established vocabulary. They cry during tummy time, in the carseat, during diaper changes, sitting on Santa’s lap…the list goes on. Our lessons are no different. I am a new person to your child, teaching them new things, so it is normal to have some emotions at first but as they learn to be independent in their skills most of the time the crying goes away pretty quickly. You are always welcome to come and watch me teach.
How long are lessons?
You’d be surprised how much energy little ones can use in 10 minutes, which is why this is our maximum lesson time. They are using new muscles, physically engaging in the water, all while learning at a pace appropriate for them. I promise you, 10 minutes maximum a day is more than enough to see progress and works with their energy levels so they do not end their lessons feeling yucky and exhausted.
Do I have to get into the water with my child?
No, lessons are just for the Instructor and your child. You will be their cheerleader from the pool deck. Once we do have some stable skills to share with you, we will invite you into the pool for a lesson or two if you want.
Is this the program where you throw the babies in the water?
Absolutely NOT! Each kick, breath, reach, and rotation is positively reinforced. Once a child is FULLY skilled we will integrate simulated fall ins but always with us inches away and never from outside of the pool.
